Excerpt During 1973—1978 archaeological excavations were carried through in Hălmagiu village, Arad County at the old nobiliary court and the church with the dedication day Assumption of the Virgin.
On the occasion of the historical investigations carried out in the village, a diploma dated April 5, 1701, raising to the nobility the former serfs Daniel Gida and George Juga of Hălmagiu was found in Mircea Ungur's house, a teacher of history. The diploma, relatively well preserved, was purchased by the Central Military Muzeum in Bucharest.
The text of the diploma unguestionably testifies to the fact that the Crişurilor Land in the south-western Transylvania had long and continuously been inhabited by a population of Romanian origin, stable and linked to the ancestral land. The text comprises a detailed description of the diploma.
